Jo Swin son’s full name is Joanne Kate Swin son. She is a former British politician of Liberal Democrats and has served as the leader of the Liberal Democrats from 22 July to 13 December 2019. She was the first and youngest woman to hold that position but also she held that post for the shortest period of time. From 2005 to 2015 and 2017 to 2019, she served as the Member of Parliament for East Dunbartonshire. She got the position of Director of Partners for a New Economy (P4NE) in September 2020.

Early life and Education
She was born on 5 February 1980 in Glasgow, Scotland. Currently, she is 41 years old as of 2021. She was born to Peter and Annette Swinson.
She completed her early education at the Douglas Academy which is a mixed state school in the town of Milngavie in East Dunbartonshire in western Scotland. After that, she went to the London School of Economics to study Management. From there, she gained a first-class Bachelor of Science degree in 2000. At the age of 17, she became an active member of the Liberal Democrat’s political party.
Political career
Before being elected to the House of Commons, she briefly worked in public relations. She became the youngest MP at her time. She was a Member of Liberal Democrats and Spokesperson who covered various positions including Scotland, Women and Equalities, Communities and Local government, and Foreign and Commonwealth affairs.
In 2010, when Liberal Democrats entered into a coalition government with the Conservative party, she became the Parliamentary Private Secretary to Nick Clegg and later she was appointed as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Employment Relation and Postal Affairs. In 2015, she lost her seat but in the snap election, she regained the seat after two years.
From 2017 to 2019, she served as Deputy Leader of the Liberal Democrats, and for the shortest period of time, she has also served as leader of the Liberal Democrats.
Personal life
In 2011, she married her fellow Liberal Democrat MP Duncan Hames and the couple has two children, one born in 2013 and the other in 2018.
She has a peanut allergy due to which she sustained an anaphylactic shock in May 2013.
She is also an athlete as she completed the Loch Ness Marathon in 2007, the 2011 London Marathon, and in 2017 an inaugural Stirling Scottish marathon. In 2019, she also ran the London Landmarks Half Marathon in memory of her father.

In July 2020, she became a Visiting Professor at Cranfield School of Management in Bedfordshire and then in September 2020, she was made Director of Partners for a New Economy.
