Early Life of Princess Gayatri Devi
Gayatri Devi belonged to a Koch Rajbongshi Hindu family. Her father, Jitendra Narayan was the Maharaja of Cooch Behar in West Bengal. Gayatri’s mother, Indira Raje was the Maratha Princess of Baroda. She was the only daughter of Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III and Maharani Indira Raje
She was famous for her gracious beauty and fashion. Gayatri Devi became a politician in the Swatantra Party. Devi served in the Swatantra Party for twelve years. She was a prominent critic of Indira Gandhi’s government and was jailed for 5 months in Delhi’s Tihar Jail during the Emergency.

Life and Family History
Gayatri Devi belonged to a Koch Rajbongshi Hindu family. Her father was the Prince of Cooch Behar, he was the younger brother of Yuvaraja. Due to her uncle’s death, the throne was ascended to her father.
Gaya tri was sent to London for studies. She completed her early education at Glendower Preparatory School in London, and then completed her higher education at Patha Bhavana of Vis va-Bharati University, Shanti nike tan, and then studied in Lausanne, Switzerland. She traveled throughout Switzerland with her mother and siblings.

Gayatri Devi was an excellent polo player. She met Sawai Man Singh II when she was just 12 years old in Calcutta. Gayatri stayed there with the Sawai Man Singh II family.

This school was opened in the memory of her husband Maharaja Sawai Man Singh. She even revived and promoted the dying art of blue pottery.
Death
Gaya tri Devi died in 2009 in Jaipur. She was 90 years old, suffering from paralytic ileus and lung infection. She passed her estate, which is in millions, to her grandchildren.
