She was born in the family of George. Shobhana is the daughter of KM George Thankamma George. She did her studies at the Govt. Girls High School, Chengannur in the year 1976. After that, she completed her Pre-Degree course and did her Bachelor of Arts in Economics in the year 1982 from Kerala University. After that Shobana opted for a Master’s Degree in Arts in Sociology from Mysore University.

Shobhana George Career in Politics
Shobhana then came into politics. She was elected for Chengannur constituency in the Kerala Legislative Assembly and represented the 9th, 10th, and 11th assemblies. Following that, she joined the Democratic Indira Congress, resigned from the Indian National Congress, and served as the General Secretary. Shobhana also served as General Secretary of the State Youth Congress Committee. She even served as joint Secretary of Kerala and served as Senate Member of Kerala University.
However, in 2005, she resigned as MLA after resigning from the INC. Shobhana then joined the DIC with K Karunakaran.
In 2006, she was elected from the Thiruvananthapuram West constituency. But, unfortunately, lost and rejoined the Congress.

In 2002, an arrest warrant was issued for Shobhana George. It was a non-bailable warrant. The case came from a forged intelligence report, which was then faxed to Chief Minister AK Antony’s Tourism and Fisheries Minister, KV Thomas.
He was involved in a 366 crore Hawala transaction. It was taken during the year 1999-2000. With him, Surya TV’s reporter Anil Nambiar, Anil Sreeran gam, Shob hana’ s private secretary were arrested. The arrest order was from the Chief Minister.
